Danielle Brown
Danielle Brown has lived in Collingswood since 1997 and has been a proud, active member of the community for nearly three decades. A devoted mother of ten and grandmother to one, all of whom have gone through the Collingswood public schools, Danielle has long been a strong voice for children, families, and underserved populations in our town.
For over 25 years, Danielle has worked and volunteered for nonprofit organizations focused on domestic violence, human trafficking, and community empowerment. She currently serves as a Program Director for United Advocacy Group, where she supports survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking across Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland, and Salem Counties. Danielle is also an instructor with Rutgers University’s Institute for Families, where she trains frontline DCPP (Division of Child Protection and Permanency) workers to better serve vulnerable families. Her work bridges direct service and systemic change, ensuring both compassion and accountability in New Jersey’s social services.
Danielle is deeply engaged in outreach to marginalized communities, including Hispanic and LGBTQ+ survivors. She speaks nationally through the National Domestic Violence Speakers Bureau, is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, and is actively working toward policy change that protects the rights of victims and advances human rights at both the state and local levels.
She serves on the Collingswood Police Chief’s Executive Advisory Committee, working closely with law enforcement to strengthen community safety and improve police-community relations.
Elected to the Collingswood Board of Education in 2023, Danielle prioritizes mental health supports, equitable school funding, teacher retention, and creating inclusive environments where all students and families can thrive.
Danielle holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and is currently completing her Master of Social Work (MSW) and certificate in interpersonal violence and trauma. Her life and career reflect a steadfast belief in justice, equity, and the power of community.
Danielle is running for re-election to the Collingswood Democratic Committee to continue being a bold, empathetic voice for residents, especially those whose stories too often go unheard. She is committed to making sure every person in Collingswood feels seen, valued, and represented.
